Police have confirmed the arrest of four prime suspects in connection with the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of a mobile money operator, Patricia Kokunda in Soroti City on April 3, 2026.
The tragic incident occurred at around 4:40 am at Teso Coach Park along Station Road near Goal man Supermarket.
The victim was en route to Ocorimongin cattle market when the assailants reportedly pulled her out of a taxi and shot her on the legs before fleeing with over Shs30 million.
Kokunda was rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital where she died due to excessive bleeding.
Since then police in East Kyoga have been pursuing the killers, leading to the arrest of four prime suspects.
ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the Police Spokesperson, in his statement shared today through the Uganda Police Force (UPF) X handle, formerly twitter said two suspects Alex Okello and Felix Onego were arrested on the fateful day.
The duo helped the police with the information leading to the arrest of Simon Epeu, alias as Iboda, a resident of Anyara Sub-County in Kalaki district, from whom Shs7 million was recovered.
He added another suspect identified as Alfred Alacu, a resident of Orungo Sub-county in Amuria district who is believed to be the shooter was arrested on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
