Moroto High school football team captain has attributed the team’s failure to qualify for the regional games to lack of adequate preparations due to the absence of dedicated coaches.
Moroto high school football team got eliminated at the group stage after finishing in the 5th position of the Moroto district secondary school sports inter-district competitions.
Speaking to Etoil A Karamoja, David Obanga-Kene, the team captain of Moroto high school said that the school depended on the teacher of games and sports who was recently trained under the Uganda secondary school sports association.
He said that while the teacher is good at his job, he didn’t have tactical experience to help the team succeed.
Obanga-Kene commended his fellow football players for the energy they offered though he couldn’t hide the trauma and the pain the players underwent after being knocked out of the Karamoja regional competitions for the first time.
He appealed to the other games and sports teachers to always try and have enough training time with their players so as they gain enough football skills before the games.
