Moroto 3rd division football team head coach Michael Odongo, believes the pressure is off his team as they look to retain the Emorimor Cup title after their remarkable success last year.

His statement comes as teams gear up for the fourth edition of Emorimor Cup tournament to be held in Bukedea District between October 18, and 22, 2025.

The four-day annual event is held on rotational basis to commemorate the coronation anniversary of Emorimor Papa Iteso Sande Paul Emolot Etomeileng.

According to the Prime Minister of Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) Andrew Ochole, this year’s edition is expected to attract 35 teams from Teso, Karamoja, and Kenya.

He said that the teams will compete in football, netball, volley ball and handball and a winner in each category will be awarded medals and a cash prize of Shs1 million.

Speaking to Etoil A Karamoja, Michael Odongo, the head coach Moroto 3rd division football team, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to retain the trophy.

He explained that the team has already embarked on vigorous training ahead of the tournament.

Odongo encouraged other teams from the Karamoja Sub-region to take part in Emorimor Cup, noting that the tournament serves as an avenue of identifying and nurturing upcountry talents.
