The Kotido District Service Commission (DSC) has concluded a rigorous interview process for 87 crucial positions within the district and municipal council, signaling a significant step forward in bolstering service delivery.

This landmark recruitment drive saw an overwhelming response, with 2,171 applications received from hopefuls in Karamoja and the neighbouring districts.

From the pool, 1,093 candidates were shortlisted and have undergone interviews in the last two weeks.

Building on this momentum, the Kotido DSC has already announced a fresh wave of opportunities, advertising 14 new senior-level positions.

These include Principal Chief Administrative Officer, Principal Human Resource Officer, District Production Officer, Senior Agricultural Engineer, Senior Finance Officer, and Planner, among other vital roles. The deadline for submitting applications for these new positions is set for April 28th.

Speaking on the ongoing recruitment and future plans, Darlington Lomanio, the DSC Commissioner Chairman, emphasized the commission’s commitment to a fair and transparent process.

He noted that the commission was guided by the 2011 and 2017 job description guidelines, stressing the critical importance of candidates aligning their qualifications and experience with the specific requirements of each role.

This year’s recruitment marks the first major recruitment exercise in recent years.

The urgency to fill these vacancies was highlighted in 2023 when Joseph Lomongin, during a handover ceremony to former

Chief Administrative Officer Godfrey Ogwang, revealed that nearly 50 percent of positions within the Kotido district local government were vacant and being managed by caretakers.
