The Kotido Grade One Magistrate Rashid Katende, has sentenced three people to lengthy jail terms and remanded eight others to Kotido Prison on separate cases.

In the first case Katende sentenced Charles Lokech, a resident of Kotido town to four years and eleven months in prison for stealing a bull valued at over Shs1.5 million.

State prosecutor Ignatius Omaset on Tuesday told court that Lokech stole the bull on September 11 2025, slaughtered it and gave it to his wife (Napeto) to sell the meat.

His wife Napeto was also sentenced to four months in prison for selling meat well knowing that the bull was stolen.

In a separate case, Endrine Lokwii was sentenced to one-year for smoking and dealing in marijuana.

Katende in his ruling stated that Lokwii will be transferred to Murchison Bay Prison in Luzira where he will serve his sentence from.

Lokwii, one of the eight suspects who were rounded-up over the weekend in Kotido town in a police operation to crackdown on wrong criminals, pleaded guilty to the charges, stating that he started smoking marijuana at the age of seven-years.

Other suspects, John Longole, Paul Lochoro, and Saleh Lokope were remanded to Kotido prison till September 30, 2025 after they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Meanwhile Eric Lomuria, Ali Umar, and Farouk Dedeng who denied the charges against them were remanded up to October 15, 2025 for mention of the case.

The State Prosecutor told court that the suspects were found with large quantities of illegal narcotics at the time of arrest including 100 sticks and 47 packed pieces of marijuana.
