Paramount Chief of Lango (Won Nyaci), Eng Dr Michael Moses Odongo Okune, has appointed new cabinet ministers and created six specialised committees aimed at strengthening governance and speeding up socio-economic growth across sub-region.

New team confirmed in official notice dated October 5, 2026, addressed to Speaker of Council, Owitong, brings together politicians, academics, professionals and youth leaders, who are expected to drive cultural preservation and community development.

Denis Hamson Obua of Atek Okwerowee Clan is Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary, Won Nyaci’s senior representative at national and international levels, while Ambrose Agec Opio of Omolo Atar Odyakol Clan is Deputy Minister for Peace Building/Liaison and Local Government Liaison.

Opio, will manage relations with local government leaders and handle restitution of traditional assets and property under Cap 243 as reported by Daily Monitor.

Ambrose Ocen of Otengoro Olang Clan is Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour and Coordinator of Lango Public Servants and Professionals and he will oversee mobilisation of professionals across region and guide career development.

The docket of 5th Deputy Prime Minister in charge of General Duties has been handed to Francis Ogwang of Oumolao Clan, and will oversee special task forces and monitor institutional programmes.

In a bid to expand institutional capacity and improve service delivery, Won Nyaci also introduced operational units and committees.

Agriculture, Veterinary and Fisheries is chaired by Mr Benson Odongo. It will promote climate-smart farming, regional demonstration farms and post-harvest management.

Audit, Investigations and Compliance is chaired by clan chief, Robert Okello, who is expected to carry out semi-annual financial audits, investigate misuse of institutional resources and audit infrastructure projects technically.

Santos Ongodo, clan chief of Bakocol Clan, takes charge of Games and Sports and his mandate is to organise tournaments under royal banner, promote traditional games such as Aloi marathon and combat youth substance abuse.

Youth is headed by Alebtong District Woman MP, Dr Mercy Faith Lakica. It will focus on economic empowerment, vocational training and cultural orientation.Children’s Affairs is led by clan leader (Awitong) John Bosco of Nyankol.

Committee will safeguard child rights under Ugandan law, work to curb child marriage and support health and education initiatives.

Lango Heroes Award is headed by Prof Celestino Obua. Committee will identify historical and contemporary figures for royal recognition and oversee establishment of permanent Lango Heroes Square.
