A total of over 30 candidates of Kotido Army primary school whose last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) were withheld over alleged examination malpractice are expected to appear before UNEB tribunal to defend the results.

The candidates, led by the Kotido Municipal Education Officer (MEO) Gloria Auma, and Simon Tito Elanyu, the head teacher of Kotido Army Primary School, along with two other teaching staff members, left Kotido for Kampala on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

UNEB withheld results for more than 77,000 candidates of the 817,883, who sat 2025, Primary Leaving Examinations across the country, including 45 out 62 candidates from Kotido Army Primary School.

The affected candidates were ungraded and they were summoned to appear before the Examination Security Committee to defend their Mathematics and Social Studies papers.

In a letter dated February 14, 2026, UNEB directed the affected candidate, school head teacher, invigilators, and municipal education officials to appear before appear before the tribunal.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the Kotido Municipal Education Officer (MEO), Gloria Auma, and Simon Tito Elanyu, the head teacher of Kotido Army Primary School, about when they will appear before the tribunal were unsuccessful as they declined to speak.

However, Aida Filda Layika mother to Kevin Namalike Achen, one of the affected confirmed to our reporter that, her daughter Kevin has left to Kampala with the rest.

According to her, she paid Shs 100,000 to facilitate cater for transport costs of her daughter to Kampala to defend the withheld results

“The school requested as to contribute Shs 100,000 each to facilitate transportation of the affected candidates to Kampala to defend the withheld results of Mathematics and social studies subjects which were withheld on suspicion of malpractice”, Aida Layika stated.

She appealed to UNEB to release the results of the affected candidates so that they can know the fate of their children.

UNEB Communication Officer Jennifer Kalule in a statement posted on UNEB X formerly Twitter, said that the process of hearing withheld results is ongoing according to allocated schedule.

However, she but she didn’t confirm the specific date assigned to Kotido Army Primary School.
