Kotido Magistrate Magistrate’s Court has remanded Benedict Kiyonga Okidi, a suspect accused of killing a 36-year-old man until February 25, 2026. 

Kiyonga Okidi, a resident of Narikapet Cell, Central Division Kotido Municipality appeared before Chief Magistrate Eunice Akullu, on Wednesday.

Prosecution told court that the accused fatally beat Okwii to coma in the early hours of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following an altercation.

The incident reportedly occurred at Hellen’s Bar located in Narikapet Cell, Central Division, Kotido Municipality, where they were drinking from.

Okwii was rushed to Kotido General Hospital by his mother Hellen Akayo, who is the proprietor of Hellen’s, unfortunately he was pronounced dead moments later.

During the court session, the Chief Magistrate Akullu informed Kiyonga that the court lacked the power to hear his case and subsequently remanded him to Kotido government prison.

Consequently, the magistrate set February 25, 2026 as the date for mention of the case.
