Privately owned primary schools have outperformed government aided schools in Kotido Municipality in the just released 2025, Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

On top of the list is St Daniel Comboni Primary School founded by Kotido Catholic Diocese that registered 23 first graders, 17 in second grade out of the 40 pupils that sat for the 2025 exams.

Bethesda nursery and primary school that registered 21 candidates emerged second with seven first graders while the remaining fourteen passed in division two.

Mary Mother of God primary school is among a few government aided primary schools that performed well, with 12 pupils in grade one, and 51 others in second grade out of 63 registered candidates.

Other traditional government primary schools like Kanawat primary passed all the 29 candidates in division two, and Lomukura primary school got two first graders, 55 obtained second grade while two candidates were ungraded.

Despite the nationwide teachers’ industrial action over salary discrepancies, Mathew Moding, the Kotido Municipal Inspector of schools, said last year’s performance is better than that of 2024, where they registered only 32 first graders.

Moding said this marks an increase of 21 first graders, equating to 39.9 percent.

He attributed good performance to hard work and commitment exhibited by pupils, parents and teachers.
