Only 19% of Kotido district political leaders and 30% of municipal political leaders have complied with the legal requirement of declaring, incomes and liabilities to the Inspector General of Government- IGG.
The revelation was made during the visit of the Deputy IGG, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and the team to Kotido on Tuesday.

Jaram Magyezi, the Director of the Leadership Court Tribunal in the office of the IGG said that the low turnout is worrying, adding that that most of the political leaders tend to declare their assets on the last day, which he notes is not secure.

The declaration of assets, incomes and liabilities for this year runs up to March 31, 2025.
The law requires every new leader to declare assets, income and liabilities in three months after assuming office.
However, David Lokure, the Kotido District IT officer attributes the low output in declaration exercise to computer illiteracy especially on the use of emails among the elected leaders.
The Deputy IGG urged the leaders to take the declaration exercise seriously, cautioning that failure to comply may result in legal consequences.
