Kotido District Service Commission has been recognised as the best performing commission across Karamoja region by the Ministry of Public Service, according to a claim by the district leadership.
While presenting a three-year performance report before the district council Paul Lomanio, the Chairperson of Kotido District Service Commission noted that the Commission has registered remarkable achievements since their appointment in 2024, making them the best in the region.
Lomanio disclosed that since 2024, they have been able to conduct a total of 642 businesses, raise staffing levels at the district from 53 percent to 85 percent as of June this year.
He added that the commission has also conducted 3 administrative reviews, regularized 37 staff, placed 6 internal job advertisements and sent 24 staff on paid-study leave.
The report indicates that the district has achieved 100 percent staffing level for the positions of Community Development Officers, Accounts Assistants, parish chiefs and town agents.
Despite the achievements, Lomanio said Kotido District Service Commission continues to face key challenges ranging from interference, accusations of corruption and favouring only the Jie, low funding as well as delayed implementation of the commission’s directives.
The District Service Commission is tasked with recruitment, selection, appointment, promotion, disciplining and retirement of civil servants in the district.
