Kotido District has deployed close to 100 new staff to work in the different vacant positions in a move that will boost service delivery.
Up to 86 workers have been deployed to Kotido district local government with another 12 deployed to Kotido Municipality to fill various positions in health, education and administration.
The recruitment exercise that attracted more than 2,000 applicants from across the country saw lower cadre positions including parish chiefs, drivers and potters also filled.
The Kotido Senior Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Joseph Orisa, said the deployment was carefully done.
Prior to the deployment of the new staff, volunteers at Kotido District Hospital who failed to make it to the list of successful candidates laid down tools in protest to the decision taken by the District Service Commission. Some of the volunteers had worked at the hospital for more than 20 years.
The sit-down strike paralyzed health service delivery as patients notably at the OPD were abandoned.
The Kotido Chief Administrative Officer, Oola Donato Olam challenged the new staff to effectively serve the people and follow government laws and regulations while performing their duties.
“Now that you have joined public service , we expect you to serve the people diligently and follow all government regulations and avoid acts of absenteeism and reveling information to un authorized people”, Oola remarked.
He said all the new recruits will access the pay role by 5th of May 2025.
Kotido Municipality Town Clerk, Emanuel Okaja who received the 11 new staff said the staffing level has now risen to 295 out of the required 545, representing 47 percent
