Centenary Bank has donated a 50 seater tent valued at Shs3.5 million to Nakapelimoru Army Secondary School as part of its effort to enhance education in the Karamoja sub-region.

Jhanan Obong Olum, the Branch Manager of Centenary Bank in Kotido said that the donation was part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He explained that they decided to help the school with a 50-seater tent to address infrastructural challenges faced by the school.

Olum added that the tent would be a symbol of Centenary Bank’s partnership with the school, a reminder of the power of community support and collaboration.

Maj. Rtd. David Ngobi, the school head teacher, revealed that the donation follows a request made to centenary bank in November 2024, to support the school with a tent to house A-level classes.

He stated that the decision to start A-level was reached at during the Annual General.

According to him, despite operationalization of A-level, the school lacks girls’ dormitory.

In order to salvage the situation, Ngobi said that the school has been to turn one of the limited classrooms into a dormitory.

“This tent will be a game-changer for our school,” he said. “We can use it for assemblies, events, and even provide shade for our students during outdoor activities.”

In his part Rt. Rev. Dominic Eibu, Bishop of Kotido Catholic Diocese, who presided over the handover ceremony, urged students to remain disciplined to attract community support.

The bishop said that an appropriate time, he make his construction towards the construction of a classroom and girls’ dormitory.
