Amus College School will head into the return leg of the FUFA Women’s Cup semi-finals on Sunday, 8 May 2025, with a two-goal advantage after beating Uganda Martyrs 3-1 in the first leg played on Wednesday 4, 2025, at St. Gerald’s Stadium.
Eunice Nabwoba, Doreen Aujat, and Shayline Opisa each scored a goal for the Bukedea district-based outfit while Captain Latifa Nakasi scored the consolation goal for Uganda Martyrs.
The visitors had a brilliant start and took the lead in the 13th minute through Nabwoba, who headed home from Opisa’s well-delivered corner kick.
At the half-hour mark, Aujat doubled the lead for Amus College with her low drive beating goalkeeper Joan Namusisi.
Two minutes before the break, Nakasi pulled one back to give Uganda Martyrs some hope but failed to find the much-needed breakthrough.
Opisa put the icing on the cake in the 76th minute with a solo effort, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Uganda Martyrs’ defense, beating them for pace before lobbing the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper Namusisi.
The two teams will face off on Sunday in the return leg at Amus College to determine who will advance to the final.
The other semi-final between Kawempe Muslim and St. Noa Girls will be played on Thursday June 5, 2025, with the return leg also slated for Sunday June 8, 2025.
