A sober mood and dark cloud of grief is hovering over North Karamoja Diocese following the death of Rev Bosco Achilla, the archdeacon of Abim archdeaconry, who was knocked by over an speeding UPDF vehicle.
Rev. Achilla, was knocked dead on Thursday December 25, 2025, at around 7:00am in Akado, Kiru Town Council, about 10 kilometres from Abim Town, casting a dark shadow over the Christmas season for residents and the clergy.
The Rt. Rev. Simon Aisu Akol, Bishop of North Karamoja, confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased was riding a motorcycle to All Saints Church in Abim town for a church service, when he was fatally hit by a UPDF vehicle with Registration No. H4DF 2383.
Bishop Aisu said the deceased’s motorcycle was damaged beyong repair.

The prelate described the death of Rev. Achilla as a very big loss not only to his family but also to the diocese, where he has been serving, and eulogized him as a very obedient and loyal servant of God.
He called for calm among the bereaved family and the Christian community of All Saints Church during the trying moment.
By press time the UPDF had not issued a statement about the tragic incident.
However, the information obtained by our reporter reveals that the UPDF top commanders held a meeting with the family members and the clergy to discuss the way forward.
A police officer who preferred anonymity told this publication that the UPDF vehicle was towed to Abim Central Police Station as investigations to ascertain the cause of the crash are underway.
