A section of the reformed raiders in Kotido district who voluntarily returned their guns during the ongoing disarmament operations, has called for a thorough investigations into the mismanagement of relief items meant for them.

The group raised their concerns recently, during the visit of the presidential affairs committee that was traversing Karamoja region to unearth more information on the diversion of relief items.

According to reports 539 people were to benefit from 14,014 iron sheets, while 1,135 were to benefit from 18,000 goats. However, only 14,456 goats were delivered, giving a shortfall of 3,544, with no single iron sheet delivered.

Awakae Pulkol and Kalisto Lowiny all from Kanair Sub County who returned their guns voluntarily say they have waited for the relief items in vain.

Peter Lojale, from Nakapelimoru Sub County and Namoe Ebokot from Loletio Sub County say even the goats which were distributed died, adding that the government should fulfill the promises she made at the start of the disarmament program codenamed-Usalama Kwa Wote.
