The long awaited newly constituted Kotido district service commission is set to be sworn in to office in two weeks’ time.
The district has been running without a substantive commission since the expiry of term of office of the previous commission in 2023. Subsequently, the Kotido district council approved names of five members to form the new commission.
The members; Paul Darlington Lomanio as the chairperson of the commission with Rt Rev James Nasak, Dr Panvuga Pascal Alokore, Achayo Mary Lakot and Achi Sunday Betty as members were later vetted and approved by the ministry of public service.
Donato Oola Olam the Kotido chief administrative officer in an exclusive interview with our reporters in his office Tuesday, said that the district has since issued appointment letters to the officers in the various positions.
Oola added that the district is now finalizing with the process to have the new members sworn in and assume office in the shortest time possible.
The swearing in of the district service commission members comes in the wake of the earmarked recruitment exercise in Kotido district to fill in the vacant positions, following the retirement of some officers and the formation of new administrative units.
The District Service Commission is responsible for the appointment, promotion, disciplining and removal from office of all employees other than the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Deputy CAO, Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk of a City and Town Clerks (TCs) of Municipalities who are appointed by the central government.
