The Kotido Technical Institute acting Principal, Edwin Asiimwe has officially handed over office to James Mugambe the new principal.
Asiimwe assumed office on the 22nd June 2024, after a vetting process by the School’s Board of Governors following the transfer of Alfred Jasper Okello to Nakapiripirit Technical Institute and the failure of Thadeus Kagwa to take up office at the Institute.
While handing over office and instruments of power to the new principal, Asiimwe said he was delighted to have served as a care taker principal of the Institute adding that it has been an educative experience.
He also highlighted that within the said period of time, he managed to reduce the Institutions outstanding debt to about 700,000 shillings, set up a school disciplinary committee, and clear staff’s accumulated NSSF arrears among others.
He however, explained that the Institution is still faced with the challenge of lack of staff quarters, inadequate training facilities and equipment, as well as lacks a well-equipped library and ICT laboratory.
James Mugambe, the new principal in his acceptance speech appreciated Asiimwe for the great work exhibited and appealed to the Municipal authorities to support the school so as to address the challenges raised.
Emmanuel Okaja, the Kotido Municipality town clerk pledged to work with the new principal to ensure that the challenges affecting the development of the Institution are addressed.
Peter Abrahams Irar, the Kotido municipality major assured the new principal of support whenever need arises imploring him to always consult with the municipal education department and authorities when he needs guidance on pertinent issues.
