Kotido Secondary School authorities that have been withholding results of S.4 and S.6 students following a strike last year have finally succumbed to pressure.

The school authorities had withheld the results to force the students to pay Shs80,000 and Shs100,000 each as compensation for the cameras they allegedly vandalised.

However, the fine levied on 217 S.4 candidates and 191 S.6 candidates sparked public outrage with many parents describing the fine as exorbitant.

Following an outcry from the parents the office of the Resident District Commissioner and other stakeholders had to intervene and directed the school administration to reduce the fine.

Peter Abraham Lokwiii the Kotido District Assistant RDC revealed that the levies would collect more than UGX. 40 million, something he noted was way above the damage caused.

Lokwii noted that the initial fines prevented several students from picking up their results thus affecting their future education plans. The fines have been slashed by half of the initial levy.

However, Emmanuel Lokedi, the headteacher of the school says that the students who had already paid the initial fine will not receive any refund after the review of the fines.
