A senior four student of Kotido SS has survived being lynched after he reportedly attempted to waylay and rob women off their valuables in Kanawat trading center.
The incident happened on Sunday evening at around 9:00pm. The student whose identity has been withheld was allegedly rescued by the Kotido west division LC3 chairperson Peter Lonya.
This comes just days after the school administration on Wednesday last week suspended six students for drunkenness. A week early the school administration had also suspended eight girls after they were found pregnant during the mandatory pregnancy test.
Speaking to our reporter this morning Lonya said the community members rounded up the suspected criminal but later handed him over to the school administration after identifying him as a student.
Lonya condemned the students’ actions further tasking the community to stay vigilant and report such cases to the school administration for further management.
Emmanuel Lokedi the Kotido SS head teachers confirmed the incident to our reporter saying he was informed about the incident by the area LC3 chairperson.
According to Lokedi the school will now handle the matter administratively using the school rules and regulations.
Last week the security officials in Kotido district resolved to establish military and police detaches in Kanawat to curb a surge in cases of criminality in the area.
