The Kotido Grade One Magistrate’s Court has remanded a popular female artist Rose Mary Akol alias Lady KUKU to Kotido government prison until April 10th, 2025 prisons over alleged child neglect.
Lady Kuku, who was arrested on Wednesday appeared before the Grade One Magistrate Rashid Katende on Friday.
She is being accused for allegedly abandoning her 2-year-old son with the maid in the house in Lomukura Cell, Central Division in Kotido Municipality for two months.
Court heard it that the artist moved into another relationship which reportedly forced her to abandon the minor, currently hospitalized with acute malnutrition at Kotido General Hospital.
However, in the hospital, our reporter saw the boy being attended to by another minor in a worrying health condition.
The child has pale eyes and sunken body in desperate need for help.
Akol’s case is one of the few child abuse cases in Kotido district and Karamoja at large to reach court.
According Katende, Lady Kuku will appear before court on Thursday 10th of April 2025, for mention of child neglect charges prefered against her.
