Kotido district Local government has received 164 million shillings for recruitment of staff in the newly elevated Kamor Health center 2 in Kamor sub county.
The development was revealed by Oola Donato Olam the Kotido district Chief Administrative Officer during an exclusive interview with our reporter in his office
Without giving further details Oola explained that the money though little will go a long wat in increasing the staffing levels at the facility.
Oola further revealed that the district has written to the permanent secretary Ministry of Public service seeking clearance to recruit new staff.
According to Oola the government has however, not availed money for recruitment of staff at Kotido general hospital despite constant follow ups at the ministry.
In March this year, the district released a job advertisement containing a list of vacancies available, both at the district and municipality on replacement basis.
Some of the key positions advertised included a records officer, senior assistant officer, commercial officer, assistant district water officer among others were according to Oola in an earlier interview intended to fill in the existing positions that were left behind by officers who were retired, transferred, dismissed, or died during service, as provided for in the law.
In October 2023, Joseph Lomongin the former Kotido district chief administrative officer, while handing over office, to Godfrey Okello Ogwang also a former CAO Kotido highlighted some of the vacant positions to be filled, especially at the main hospital and new administrative units.
Oola also disclosed that the district service commission has already issued appointment letters to the newly recruited staff who are to fill in the vacant positions adding that he expects them to commence work immediately.
