The Kotido Resident District Commissioner Charles Ichogor has vowed to publicly castrate teachers defiling school girls.

This follows damming reports pointing to a rise in the number of school going girls dropping out of school due to pregnancies.

Ichogor said that some teachers are responsible of for some pregnancies among the primary and secondary school girls.

He was speaking during the pass out ceremony of 700 student patriots held at Lomukura Playground on Friday and presided over by the  Commandant School of Artillery and Air Defense Olilim, Col. Rogers Dhikusooka Kitwala.

Ichogor directed an emotional attack on teachers who eat where they work by sleeping with their pupils and students.

He cited an incident in which Jackson Bushendich, the head teacher of Lotuke Seed Secondary School in Abim district, reportedly impregnated one of his students in 2024.

However, the investigation into the allegations hit a snug after the student believed to be from Kapchorwa reportedly escaped from the school without a trace.

Tough speaking Ichogor, said that any teacher found guilty of defiling school going pupils and students shall be thrown out of service and castrated in public.

He reminded the teachers to adhere to the professional code of conduct and stop defiling pupils, if they are survive being castrated publicly.

Ichogor also used the platform to encourage girls to report cases of sexual assault and defilement by teachers directly to his office for immediate action.

The patriots underwent three-weeks training on patriotism organized by the Office of the President under the Patriotism Secretariat.

Jimmy Owilli, the deputy head teacher of Kotido SS and District Coordinator of Patriotism in Kotido district, said that the participants were drawn from six secondary schools of Kacheri SS, Panyangara SS, Panyangara Seed Secondary School, Kotido Parents School, Kotido Technical Institute, Nakapelimoru Army Boarding School and Kotido SS,

The training specifically targeted Senior 1 (S1) and Senior 5 (S5) students.

He explained that the training focused on equipping trainees with skills on basic military drills, patriotism, discipline, moral values, environmental

Owilli said that patriotism trainings have helped to shape the discipline and morals of students, which has contributed to reduction of strikes, thefts and vandalism in schools.

Citing Kotido SS which was mainly known for violent strikes, drinking alcohol among other forms of indiscipline, Owili noted that this has drastically reduced due to patriotism ideology.

He challenged the trainees to be disciplined and hardworking in order to excel in all their endeavors.

Reacting to the statement made by the RDC, the Director of Studies (DOS) Panyangara SS Simon Achuma alluded to the fact that many female students were dropping out almost each term for various reasons including but not limited to pregnancy.

He said the girls often get pregnant during holidays but not from school.
