Kotido-Kotido district authorities have expressed fear about the increasing number of malnourished children in the district.
Presenting a malnutrition report during the visit of the UNICEF country director on Thursday, the kotido district, nutritional focal person Jennifer Aanyu says after carrying out mass screening across the district from February to August this year, they discovered that 24.68% of the children were suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
She says by the 5th of august, they had registered 3,152 cases of the acutely malnourished children. Aanyu added that as of now, they have now enrolled more 934 children for treatment of malnutrition, and sofar 1,463 have since been discharged.

Dr Mohamed El Munir A Safieldin the UNICEF country director while monitoring UNICEF projects in the intervention areas said he had taken note of some of the challenges faced by the district.
He says absence of a district nutritionist is one of the challenges faced by the district in as far as the fight against malnutrition is concerned
