Kotido district veterinary department has kicked off the operationalization of animal dips in Nakapelimoru sub-county to combat tick-borne diseases.

The development was confirmed by Dr. Joseph Longole, the Kotido district veterinary officer in an exclusive interview with Etoil A Karamoja.

Dr. Longole says the initiative is part of a community-based sustainable program that aims to protect livestock against tick borne diseases by promoting self-sufficiency among farmers to manage ticks.

He adds that each animal will be dipped at 200 shillings twice a month to prevent tick-borne diseases, adding that a committee has been established to oversee the program in handling tasks such as charging fees, refilling medicine, and ensuring the facility’s protection.
