KOTIDO: The Kotido Catholic Diocese celebrates the vocations week with a call for support to God’s work.

The celebrations which started on Monday May 5, 2025 will end on Sunday May 11, 2025 under the theme; “Be Generous to God with What You Have.”

The Rt. Rev. Dominic Eibu, the bishop of Kotido Catholic Diocese says the vocation week is an opportunity for parents and relatives to support and respect the calling of their children to serve God.

Bishop Eibu emphasized that there are different callings by God, including the calling to married life, political life, service, and celibacy, among others.

However, he noted that some parents and relatives often view the calling to celibacy as a waste, thinking it means the end of a generation due to no continuity in producing children.

Using the story of Abraham, where God tempted him to sacrifice his only child, the Bishop encouraged parents to trust in God’s plan and be generous with their children.

He highlighted the blessings that come from supporting vocations, citing the impact of priests and nuns who help many children around the world.

Bishop Eibu urged parents and relatives to be supportive and respectful of their children’s callings, emphasizing that it will bring blessings to their families and the community at large.

The main objective is to educate parents and youth on the importance of joining vocations and to encourage them to participate in these callings.
