The pleas follow reported incursions by suspected Turkana rustlers from Kenya in areas of Kaabong and Kotido causing mayhem and stealing livestock from the area residents.

The latest incident happened on 9th March 2024 when suspected Turkana warriors raided 32 cows from Kakamar Sub County in Kaabong District.

Speaking over the weekend during a peace meeting held at Moruitit, leaders from Kotido and Kaabong tasked the military officials to urgently deploy personnel in the porous areas to avoid escalating the brewing insecurity.

Jino Meri the Kaabong district chairperson highlighted the need to deploy soldiers at the border saying this will prevent further entry of armed Turkana raiders into the region, so that the communities can also start farming.
