The Anti-Air Craft Defense (AAC) football team are the inaugural Champions of the 405 Brigade Inter-Departmental Tournament after narrowly edging out the Hospital football team 4-3 in a nervous post-match penalty shootout.
The electrifying finals played on Sunday July 6, 2025, at the 405 Brigade playground, attracted hundreds of spectators from within and outside Kotido.
Both teams squandered a lot of goal scoring opportunities during normal and extra time due to their blunt striking line.
Anti-Air Craft Defense (AAC) walked away with a trophy and a goat as a reward, while the Hospital football team was awarded a cash prize of Shs100, 000.
Nakapelimoru Secondary School and the Artillery football team, who finished 3rd and 4th respectively, received a token of Shs50, 000.
Speaking to the media after the game, Private Kenneth Karim, AAC team captain expressed satisfaction with how the team approached the contest.
He said that the players started the tournament very well exactly the way the coach wanted.
According to him, thorough planning and togetherness exhibited by the team throughout the tournament was a key reason they finished unbeaten.
“We prepared well for the tournament and had a clear strategy to win every game. We stayed united and planned for each match, and that’s why we had a good run,” said Karim.
He also reserved praise for the club’s supporters: “I want to thank our fans for their tremendous support. They never left us and stood by us throughout.”
Lieutenant Godfrey Owich, the 405 Brigade records officer who was the guest of honor standing in for the Brigade commander, applauded the participants for the high level of discipline they exhibited throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Lt. Godwin Tiyamolema, the chairperson of the 405 Brigade organizing committee, stated that the main objective of the tournament was to help the 405 Brigade select players for the upcoming Kotido Uhuru Cup tournament and the 2nd Division Commanders Cup.
