The fourth edition of all Karamoja games scheduled to take place in Kaabong district has been called off for the third consecutive time.
The games that were meant to kick off today Tuesday and run until Saturday 9th of December with the arrival of various teams from the nine districts of Karamoja was first scheduled for August this year. It was however, postponed to September then finally rescheduled to December 2023.
Francis Lomuria the all Karamoja games coordinator for Kaabong district and coach for Kaabong united football team told our radio sports presenter’s this morning that they called off the games after they failed to get any communication from Jimmy Ongom Achuda the all Karamoja games coordinator.
Lomuria explained that his attempts to get confirmation about the commencement of the games from Achuda were all in vain prompting the district to call off the games and shift their attention to this year’s Christmas cup tournament which he believes will kick-off soon.
Quinto Keem the chairperson Napak district football Association instead accused the executives of all Karamoja games extortion and not being transparent to the public.
Our attempts to speak to Jimmy Ongom Achuda the all Karamoja games coordinator were futile at the time of filing this story since his known telephone number was unavailable. But speaking to our reporter in August, Achuda explained that they had pushed the games forward due to financial constraints.
Available information indicates that so far only Movit company has contributed 1.6 million shillings, six trophies and seventy pieces of T-shirts.
The initiative coined in 2019 was meant to bring together all the nine districts of Karamoja through sports.
