The 244 suspected Karimojong cattle rustlers who were detained at Patiko government prison in Gulu district have arrived in Kotido district a day after they were released.
The suspects were released on Monday afternoon after the UPDF together with the locals in Agago allegedly failed to prove that the suspects had committed the crime, forcing the director of public prosecution-DPP to drop charges against them.

In September, 2022, the joint security forces comprising UPDF and ASTU rounded up over 300 suspected raiders who according to the security officials were part of a racket terrorizing people in the districts of Lango and Acholi.
They were majorly picked up from Lobanya settlement camp in Kapeta Sub County and Kamor Sub County in a cordon and search operation and taken to Kitgum, Agago and Pader districts before they were transferred to Gulu district to face charges of murder, rape and theft.
Elijah Pedo the chairperson of the group and a resident of Kamoru Sub County told our reporter after arriving in Kotido that they were all released save for the three juveniles who were referred to Luzira prison for further management after they contracted TB.
Lokut Apangitim Namunaara a local artist from Kacheri Sub County who was also arrested and detained in Gulu is now appealing for support from government as they resettle in the communities.
Peter Abrahams Lokii the Jie constituency MP while talking to our reporter encouraged the returnees to embrace agriculture and shun criminality.
