The UPDF 3rd division recruitment team has turned away 20 youths in Kotido district after failing to meet the recruitment requirements to join the force.

On the 20th of May this year, the ministry of defence and veteran affairs announced a general recruitment exercise of 9, 627 regular forces in to the infantry forces.
Consequently, 57 prospective Uganda peoples defense forces-recruits were shortlisted for interviews in Kotido district.

Major Isaac Oware the UPDF 3rd division public information officer told our reporter that the team managed to meet the required quota of 37 recruits allocated to Kotido district. Of the 37 successful candidates nine were female while 28 were male.
He however, noted that the recruitment team turned away 20 of the candidates after they failed medical tests while others presented fake documents.
According to Maj Oware the force also arrested two imposters who discreetly joined the successful candidates during a road run and handed them over to the police for further management.
The exercise which commenced on Monday in Kaabong recruitment center for candidates from Karenga and Kaabong districts continues today with candidates from Abim district at Kotido recruitment center.
Recently, the ministry of defense and veteran affairs shortlisted 329 candidates in Karamoja sub region for interviews.
